This is the first dead bird picture I took, taken with my phone on April 12th, 2007. It's a Northern Flicker of the Yellow-shafted variety. My bird guide says they are "common in open woodlands and suburban areas..." I took this picture near the corner of Monroe and Wabash. Maybe he was lost.
